Head and Neck Surgery
Brian J. Mitchell, DO
Dr. Brian Mitchell is fellowship-trained in head and neck surgery/microvascular reconstruction. In conjunction with his partner, Dr. Jeff Bunn, Dr. Mitchell directs the region’s dedicated head and neck surgical oncology program.
Specializing in state-of-the-art microvascular free tissue transfer reconstructive techniques, transoral laser and transoral robotic surgery, Dr. Mitchell provides care to patients from throughout the region who require advanced surgical care of the head and neck. As part of this, a high volume of thyroid/parathyroid surgery is provided, including surgery for advanced and recurrent disease.
In 2010, Dr. Mitchell began the state’s first salivary endoscopy program, offering previously unavailable techniques for difficult to treat salivary gland disease. Care of benign and malignant laryngeal-voice disease is an additional emphasis of his practice. Dr. Mitchell currently serves as the medical director for the International Association of Laryngectomees, the primary patient service organization for patients having undergone removal of the larynx (voice box).
